Word to @AsapTwelvyy

asap-twelvy

If you’ve followed A$AP Mob member A$AP Twelvyy on social media then you are very familiar with his phrase “Last Year Being Broke”. It’s a mantra that has helped him to propel his career to new heights which included the release of his debut album, 12, earlier this month. Twelvyy has worked hard and it paid off with dividends. Every summer, I would tell my homie MP that this would be my last summer being broke but things would ALWAYS get in the way, namely student loans but game time has arrived and as a man that’s a few months shy of 33, I feel like I have to get my plays right for the 4th quarter.

No One Wants To Hate Their Job

There’s nothing worse than waking up for a job that you hate. Lying in bed, struggling to remove sheets and covers as you try to ignore the alarm on your iPhone that plays the same portion of Tyler The Creator’s “I Ain’t Got Time” like it does EVERY morning feels like penance for some foul act that you committed in a past life. Make your way to the bathroom and stare at a worn face in a mirror, shake your head then pray that the shower rids you of your current neanderthal like disposition. After you put on your “appropriate” work attire, reality sets in as you walk out the door that the next 8 hours of your life will be just another battle in an ongoing war with no foreseeable end. Olde City joint

1. Last night, I went to see Cam’ron perform at the Heineken Green Room event at the Underground Arts venue here in Philly. The line went around the block and it took almost about an hour to get into the building. Once there, Astro 8000, The DJ on the bill played until the crowd grew restless. When Cam’ron came out, all of the energy that I lost while standing around waiting for his performance, came back ten fold while he ran through hits from his 20 plus year career. I can tell you one thing though and I shouldn’t even have been surprised but the hood definitely came out to see the Dipset God. Shout out to Heineken now where’s my beer? Continue reading

It’s Never What You Thought It Was…

“I conversate with many men, it’s time to begin again
Forgot what I already knew, ayo, you hear me friend?”Prodigy “I Shot Ya (Remix)”

I woke up drained of energy solely because my inner night owl kept me up past 12:30am but whatever that’s just how I function most nights. I had my perceptions shaken over the weekend and I’ve decided, once and for all, to let them all go. Nothing is as it seems, Nothing is as it was, and to avoid future disappointment I have to take things and accept them as they are in the moment despite the nature of the relationship that I may have with the person or place or idea, etc., because everything is subject to change. Friends today, enemies tomorrow and that’s word to the title of Drake’s third album. Continue reading

1. Good friends are hard to come by. Keep your circle tight and the communication open and honest.

2. John Wick 2 was absolutely great! The fight choreography, Common and Ruby Rose, and of course THE DOG made it an action packed experience.

3. Cam’ron’s Instagram Livestream > Jim Jones’ Funk Flex interview. Cam’ron was less emotional and much more entertaining.

4. The business of America is business. With all thats going on as of late, I’ve come to the immediate conclusion that creating a brand for myself is VERY NECESSARY. I’m working on a things  that I won’t mention until everything has been finalized. Whatever I present to the world has to be legit.

5. Never assume.

6. Stand on your own accomplishments instead trying to climb upon the associations of others.

@GaryVee “A 5 Minute Plea To Do”

Don’t Think Just Do. I always need reminders of this and hopefully in 2017, I follow through. Overthinking sucks and it’s more trouble than what it’s worth. JUST GO DO.

2015’s Man Of The Year…

Stranger than fiction… The new year is right around the corner and although there’s a few weeks left, I’m diligently planning out 2015. It’s going to be about progress and continuing a renewed focus that I began to have after my 30th birthday. Most of all, no limitations on the strategies that I have, places that I’d like to go and most of all the fuckery that I want to dive headfirst into… I can and will do it all. Dig this… There’s nothing wrong with saying that the new year will be YOUR year if you work toward making it count. I’m a huge proponent of speaking things into existence and not being ashamed of asking for what you want in life. The universe works in mysterious ways but once you understand that you control the pieces on the board, it becomes that much easier to function. The best advice that I could give to anyone would be this simple phrase: “The worst is over and the best is yet to come” and that’s ONLY if you believe and work toward the goals that you are setting. NEVER BACK DOWN!!!
