Interview: Ebro In The Morning w/ Daymond John

Front if you want but I wore almost every version of FUBU that came out. I proudly wore the FUBU 05 jerseys and the Platinum FUBU collection with Fat Albert and Muhammad Ali. I think people started to hate because other people told them that it wasn’t “cool” anymore but what can I expect from sheep. Anyway, Daymond John is a G to me (G is for Genius) because of his business acumen. I picked up a lot of game from his first book titled The Brand Within. It taught me early on that just because a few individuals found success in certain areas, it didn’t mean that we needed to follow their footsteps to make money. We all can’t have impactful fashion or liquor brands but we can create our own lanes to get to the top. And for that tidbit of information, Daymond will forever be righteous (in terms of business) in my mind.

1. I’d like to thank the members of N.E.R.D. for my new found mantra (and future tattoo): Fly Or Die. Fly Or Die is the title of their sophomore album which had a significant presence in my collegiate life. While reading Charlemagne’s newest book Black Privilege it hit me out of nowhere. In this world it’s fly or die. Either you do or you don’t. Continue reading

Dedicated to “Nawlins”….

Each tattoo tells a bit of my life story. I’m not one of those “gun attached to brass knuckles mixed with a knife kind of tattoo” people. Each of my now 22 tattoos bares some kind of importance. My most recent piece is a dedication to the city that showed me that I had a bit of growing up to do. Now I wasn’t down there being a menace to myself and others but there was a bit about yours truly that I hadn’t even come to terms with. Continue reading

1. A very dope 1993 Dennis Rodman write up in Sports Illustrated “Demolition Man“.

2. Over the Memorial Day Weekend, I watched a series on Netflix titled The Keepers and every episode baffled me. I heard about it via a friend on Facebook and I decided to give it a watch. I initially thought that it would focus on a nun’s disappearance but it went deeper in the corruption of Baltimore’s archdiocese. I binged watched all 7 episodes and there wasn’t a dull moment. Check it out! Continue reading

The Golden Lord Now Enters…

Changes. Going Through Changes. Why? Because there’s no other way. Searching for the bottom line has become the obsession over for the past few months and it’s not getting any easier but I like it. As of late, there’s been a unnatural sense of urgency that’s made it’s presence known and I’d be remiss to ignore it. It wasn’t until I started to break free from my comfort zone that I began to truly live. A large part of the current transformation came from reading Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck (I’ve recommended this book to everyone that I know) which forced me to hold up a mirror to really examine my flaws. Personal growth is far from an overnight thing as it takes time to destroy and rebuild who and what you thought you were. We create weird perceptions of ourselves and we believe the lies for so long that we take fiction as fact. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Continue reading
